We live in a society that always has to find a reason for things going wrong and, consequently, who is at fault. We call it a blame culture. An accident is either caused by someone's mistake, or someone should have prevented it.
But there is very little attachment of blame for our rejection of God. It seems there is no fault on our part at all - we are not to blame.
The Bible is very clear that all have sinned and fall short. Perhaps it is the certainty of God's Word that is difficult to take, but the charge laid at the feet of all of us is that we are to blame for our sin and that God will judge us for it.
How welcome then is his news of forgiveness and salvation. But if we don't acknowledge our sin, we won't be asking for forgiveness, and his judgement stands.

Wise Sayings
After a very long and boring sermon the congregation filed out of the church saying nothing to the preacher. Towards the end of the line was a thoughtful person who always commented on the sermons. "Today your sermon reminded me of the peace and love of God!" The preacher was thrilled. "No-one has ever said anything like that about my preaching before. Tell me why." "Well - it reminded me of the Peace of God because it passed all understanding and the Love of God because it endured forever!"
